2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed Celebrated With Enthusiasm

The 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed has successfully been organised this year after the 2020 show was moved online owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. A part of the Events Research Programme pilot event, it lasted for four days from July 8 to July 11. Participants were required to either verify they got the double shots of the vaccine two weeks before the occasion or evidence of a negative lateral flow test inside two days of the festival.

The 2021 Goodwood honoured “The Maestros – Motorsport’s Great All-Rounders,” and Lotus performed as the Festival’s main brand and showed its new sports vehicle, the Emira.

Furthermore, Lotus enjoyed the Central Feature outside Goodwood House where they displayed their most iconic vehicles, including the 1965 Lotus Type 25 racer, the Evija hypercar, etc.

The Duke of Richmond, proprietor of the Goodwood estate, stated: “Lotus cars raced with great success at Goodwood throughout the fifties and sixties, including setting the ultimate lap record in 1965, and this year’s Central Feature served as a fitting landmark to its past, present and future achievements.”

The Hillclimb and Sunday Shootout worked out as usual, and so did the supercar paddock, letting participants witness the striking vehicles intimately. The Concours D’elegance event took place on the lawn outside Goodwood House and exhibited some of the most bizarre cars.

The Festival of Speed Future Lab was organised the second time after its first outing two years ago. This attraction was intended for those interested in future auto technologies such as self-driving systems, flying vehicles, virtual reality, and others.

The 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed also featured F1 Pit Lane for those interested in meeting their favourite racers. We witnessed the world’s most famous F1 drivers at the lane, including Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo and earlier three-time world champion Jackie Stewart.

New to the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed was Electric Avenue. This latest attraction was intended for electric vehicle enthusiasts who wanted to minimise their carbon footprint by opting for all-electric vehicles. The event exhibited everything from minis to super electric cars.
