2023 Range Rover Velar Hits Showrooms In The UK

The Range Rover Velar, widely regarded as a pinnacle of sartorial elegance among SUVs, has undergone some cosmetic modifications for its 2023 model year. The designers at Land Rover have refrained from imposing major stylistic overhauls and instead opted for a more subtle approach, preserving the sleek aesthetics of its predecessor. The latest iteration flaunts updated headlights alongside a cautiously modified front grille. Meanwhile, at the back, the lower portion of the bumper has undergone a subtle revamp.

Overview of Changes

With the addition of Land Rover's smart 11.4-inch infotainment system, which is distinguished by its svelte, "floating" curved glass display, the interior boasts a more significant redesign.

With just two touches on the home screen, consumers can easily access 80% of the vehicle's features, putting the Velar on par with the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

The Velar's entertainment system, known as Pivi Pro, has been created to be very adaptable. It can receive over-the-air updates and benefit from wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, as well as wireless charging in a newly added storage space in the centre console.

The vehicle's powertrain, chassis, navigation, and onboard diagnostic tools are also scheduled for OTA updates.

Interior and Exterior

Land Rover has introduced an advanced upholstery option that blends wool and polyurethane textile inserts, offering a stylish alternative to traditional leather. The three new leather interiors, available in Cloud, Raven Blue, and Deep Garnet, boast a refined and sophisticated aesthetic, while the addition of Moonlight Chrome accents on different parts adds a touch of understated glamour. For those seeking a bolder look, the Velar is now available in two new, eye-catching colors: Metallic Varesine Blue and Premium Metallic Zadar Grey. These latest additions to the Land Rover lineup offer customers the opportunity to personalize their vehicles like never before.

Trim Levels & Price

The facelifted Range Rover Velar is now available in four distinct trim levels: the impeccable S, the sporty Dynamic SE, the opulent Dynamic HSE, and the prestigious Autobiography.

At the heart of this range stands the entry-level S model, offered at a starting price of £54,045 and featuring a host of advanced technologies such as 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, and a reversing camera.

The Dynamic SE model may be the answer for those seeking a bit more flair. Starting from £58,450, it boasts 20-inch alloys and a bold, sporty body kit, elevating the Velar's already commanding presence. Those who desire even more refinement can step up to the Dynamic HSE, starting from £64,025. This model features 21-inch alloy wheels, an electrically-adjustable steering column, and luxurious leather seating.

At the apex of the Range Rover Velar lineup lies the top-spec Autobiography, offering the ultimate style and sophistication. With 21-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass sunroof, and a suite of advanced cameras, the Autobiography is priced at £76,415.

Powertrains

The Velar also offers P400e plug-in hybrid variant in Europe. This model has undergone a substantial upgrade, including a larger battery capacity of 19.2 kWh, allowing for a 40-mile range in the WLTP cycle on electric power alone - a significant improvement from its previous range of 33 miles. Furthermore, the automaker has maximized the charging power, now reaching an impressive 50 kW.

For those seeking diesel options, the Velar has four-cylinder D200 and six-cylinder D300 versions. Unfortunately, the high-performance SVAutobiography model with its magnificent 5.0-liter V8 engine will not be available in Europe. Instead of the prior supercharged engine, clients may want to think about the most recent models of the Range Rover and Sport, both of which now come equipped with BMW's twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 mill, dubbed "N63."
