Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022
The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) made a strong come back in 2021 after one year of hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Similar to 2021, this year’s event also fascinated the attendees with a huge number of cars from the past, present, and future.
The organisers called the 2022 FoS ‘The innovators – masterminds of motorsport.’ The focus of the new theme was technical improvements in motorsport; from stronger brakes to robust powertrains, and a lot more.
The ‘Electric Avenue,’ which received lots of praises last year returned this year, displaying the best electrified and all-electric vehicles. The 2021 FoS showcased everything from the Lotus Evija hypercar to the 2021 Car of the Year - the Ioniq 5. However, the best in the lot was possibly the McMurtry Speirling electric ‘fan car’ that completed the run of the Hill climb in only 39.08 seconds. It was a new record for any car, thanks to the driving skills of the former Marussia F1 driver Max Chilton behind the wheel.
2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed
The 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed is an excellent avenue for automakers to show the world their latest creations. Below we will describe a few vehicles that appeared at the show.
Alfa Romeo Tonale

Alfa Romeo introduced the Tonale concept in 2019 and now the production version is out. The one we saw at the event was housing a mild-hybrid powertrain. The automaker plans to unveil a more robust, flagship 275bhp plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive, later on.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Estrema

Undoubtedly, the Giulia is one of the best saloons you can drive today. While you would desire the twin-turbocharged V6 Quadrifoglio, the lower-powered 276bhp Estrema should do the job for you, as well.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Estrema

If you love to experience the Giulia driving dynamics in an SUV, the new Stelvio Estrema would be ideal. It boasts the same sportiness you find in Quadrifoglio at an affordable price.
Alpine A110 Sport Corse 75

To celebrate the great Alpine A110’s participation at the Tour de Corse in 1975, the company has developed the A110 Sport Corse 75. Everything from the yellow and black colour to sabelt bucket seats and lightweight body reminds us of the original rally car.
Aston Martin Bulldog concept

Aston Martin introduced the Bulldog concept in 1980 and revived it recently with an aim to hit 200 mph speed.
The wedge-modeled design and turbine wheels remind us of the cars of the Seventies and Eighties. The interior is odd compared to the new vehicles featuring a combination of wood, leather, and old digital displays.
The Bulldog didn’t participate in the hill climb, rather just stayed at the company’s booth.
Aston Martin Valkyrie

Aston Martin has been developing the Valkyrie for a long time, but considering its complicated engineering, we can totally understand the delay. The crowd really enjoyed the sound of the naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 when the Valkyrie ran towards the hill.
Aston Martin V12 Vantage

Aston Martin has decided to kill the V12 engine for the Vantage, so understandably all of the 333 examples the company plans to produce are already sold out. It was the first time the public saw the vehicle in action at Goodwood.
Many other vehicles were on display at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, including Bentley Continental GT S & Flying Spur S, recently unveiled BMW M3 Touring, BMW XM Concept, BMW M4 CSL, BMW I Vision Circular concept, BMW i7 & 7-series, BMW iX1 & iX M60, Czinger 21C, Fisker Ocean, Ford Ranger Raptor, Genesis Electrified GV70, Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 & T.33, Hispano Suiza Carmen, Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988, Kia EV6 GT, Land Rover Defender 130, Lexus EV Sport concept, Mercedes-AMG One and so many more.
