Mercedes-Benz GLA Is UK’s Speediest Selling Used Car
According to Auto Trader’s data, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA, featuring a diesel mill and automatic transmission, was the most sought-after vehicle in the UK in June, taking around 23 days to sell.
The dealers reported that previously, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA was taking 27 days on average to leave their forecourt.
Auto Trader uses its Fastest Selling Index to trace the possible tempo at which a car sells according to its demand and supply. The Index clearly reveals that the demand for SUVs is more than any other vehicle in the market.
According to data, eight out of 10 most sold vehicles in the UK were Sports Utility Vehicles. The two non-SUV models people liked here were the Ford Mustang and Audi A4 Avant.

The new market analysis signifies the strong demand for utility vehicles with a 21.6 per cent increase. It is the highest growth for any body type in the UK with an 18.9 per cent supply available. Seeing it another way, the SUV strength stood at 49.9 per cent last month.
Furthermore, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA has witnessed a robust performance in advertisement views. Last month, it garnered about 662,910 views on Auto Trader.
However, the best performing ad on the marketplace was for Skoda Citigo, up by 68.84 per cent in a month.
According to the statistics, the top ten performing vehicle adverts also consisted of electrified cars, including the zero-emission Mazda MX-30 and Volkswagen ID.3, as well as, the hybrid Toyota Prius+. It shows customer’s likes towards alternative fuel vehicles.
The Auto Trader's market report also backs this list of top performers, signifying the increasing interest of consumers in electrified vehicles, with the requirement for electrics and hybrids now greater than the ICE vehicles.
Talking about the Fastest Selling Index, Auto Trader’s director of commercial products, Karolina Edwards-Smajda, stated: “The extension of lockdown restrictions seems to have done little to slow the strong buyer demand we continue to see across the UK. We've seen the days to turn of the fastest-selling cars drop and average used car prices continuing to rise, with last week's seeing the 58th consecutive week of price growth.”

“It’s crucial for retailers to continue to keep up to date with the ever-changing market and ensure that they are pricing to market to maximise profitability.”
