New Car Vs Used Car: A New Trend
The Best Time To Buy A Car in The UK

While buying a new or used car, time plays a crucial role. If you need a new set of wheels in a hurry, you might not get a good deal, but if you have time and research well, we have a few tips for you.
The best time to buy a new car
New vehicle dealerships always need to achieve their targets to receive incentives from the automakers. Everyone from the sales team to the dealership owner gets bonuses and monetary rewards. However, the best they earn is at the culmination of each quarter, i.e. in March, June, September and December.
While they don't feel much pressure at the start of every quarter, they are desperate at the end of each, giving you a chance to grab an excellent deal.
At the culmination of the financial year in April, you can again get lucky because the dealerships want to get rid of as many vehicles as they can before the new monetary year starts. So, go car shopping in spring.
You might also be aware that people in the UK are keen to change their number plates in March and September. So, it is not a good time to hit dealerships, especially on the starting dates.
Try buying from the existing stock whenever you go to a car dealer because the factory order will take time. Dealers want to sell what they have since that only counts towards their bonus on the given day.
Bear in mind that sales staff is not just paid to sell you a car; they have plenty of other stuff like finance deals, supplementary insurance, service plans, and add-ons such as paint protection. You should know they will pressurise you, and you must be ready to haggle if you really want an extra service plan on the deal.
Lastly, it is a good idea to buy a pre-registered vehicle because dealers buy these from their pockets in order to include them in their sales figures. They have to keep them under wraps for about three months before selling them at good discounts.
Because dealers have to face high pressure in March and September, they will likely go for pre-registration if they can't sell the targeted vehicles. You just have to wait until June and December to get your hands on these vehicles at discounted prices. Since we are in December, now is probably the best time to get a pre-registered car.
The best time to buy a used car

Contrary to buying a brand-new car at specific timings, you can purchase a secondhand vehicle at any time. The dealers still have targets to meet, and fluctuations in demand and supply reflect prices.
The greatest supply of used cars is available when people trade their old vehicles for newer ones – primarily close to recent vehicle registration changes in March and September. However, these pre-owned models aren’t handy because the automakers have to process and prepare them before the sale.
The weather also plays a vital role in the best time to buy a used car. The sales of convertibles are high in summer, while the SUVs sell well in winter. Moreover, harsh winter conditions (including rain, snow) bring dwindling sales for the dealerships, so you are likely to get the best deals around this time, as showrooms are anxious to move the old stock and meet their targets. The same is true for sunny summer weekends.
Lastly, it is wise to buy a vehicle at the start of the month to save yourself road tax. For little city cars, it might not matter, but for big engine gas-guzzlers, it could save you an additional tank of fuel.
