Review BMW 3 Series Premium

The BMW 3-series fits quite well in the mid-size sedan segment rivaling the likes of the Audi A4, the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the Lexus IS, and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The new seventh-generation 3-series is better than its predecessors in all aspects from performance and handling to safety.

BMW is known for its performance vehicles, and although the M-badge vehicles carry a larger oomph, the base variants still offer breathtaking results with responsive acceleration and supple handling. It doesn't matter if you choose a torque-friendly diesel engine or a high-revving petrol engine, the joy you get from driving the 3-series is incalculable.

The new 3-series comes in several body types like the saloon, coupe, and estate models. All of which have spacious interiors to accommodate passengers in the back. If you are more family-oriented, then you can opt for the estate model that allows for extra legroom in the back and increased boot space for cargo.

The BMW 3-series comes in three variants: SE, Sport, and M Sport. The range-topping M Sport trim gets the most features with the best performance and technology options available. However, you will not feel disappointed even if you go for the base variant as the SE gets some exciting technology, driver-assist, and safety features as standard that were otherwise absent in the previous models.

The Exhilarating Interior

It’s hard not to be impressed by the 3-series’ interior. The ergonomic seats provide the most comfortable seating position for the driver and the passengers, while the uncluttered dashboard provides a sublime touch to the interior cabin. The numerous knobs and dials of older times are all gone except for one single dial that controls the BMW iDrive functions. It sits in the center console. The tech is easily accessible through the 8.8-inch touchscreen (upgradable to 10.3 inches) or the steering wheel buttons. You can listen to music through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, use navigation functions, or take an important call with your BMW.

If you sit on the driver seat, you will notice that although you sit low in the car, most of the outside is easily visible except for the rear. The A-pillars are pretty slim, but the C pillars that hold the back of the car are a bit wide, reducing visibility.

You won’t be cramped for space in this car as it has enough legroom and headroom to accommodate tall individuals. The boot has 480 liters of space, which translates to 3 big suitcases. That is more than enough considering you are looking at a mid-size car.

Feel of the Car

The BMW 3-series, like most German cars, is exceedingly comfortable. There will be times when you will feel you are driving on clouds, and even when conquering rough terrain, you won't feel the slightest discomfort. The soft and nimble suspension is designed to provide the best ride-experience. The engine, on the other hand, is powerful and tremendously responsive during the mid-rpm ranges, making the 3-series the perfect car for city and highway driving.

BMW offers a turbocharged 2L petrol engine that makes a whopping 255 horsepower, an inline-six petrol engine that is good enough for 374 hp, and a 2L diesel engine that produces 150 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

The range-topping 6-cylinder engine is the one you should opt for if you are looking for unmatched driving performance. A plug-in hybrid version is also available for those interested in going 'green'.

The Aesthetic Exterior

The BMW 3-series has not changed much since the last generation. You can still spot the signature kidney grille, the air-intake slit in the bumper, and the dominating LED headlights. The rear of the car is adorned by dual exhaust tips and sleek taillights, completing the aesthetic look of the car. To complete the look, BMW has added 18inch rims to the equation.

The sporty vehicle comes with several color options like Alpine White, Jet Black, Sunset Orange, Melbourne Red, Blue Ridge Mountain, and Phytonic Blue.
