What Are The Best-selling Cars in the UK Right Now?
What’s popular and what’s not? The recent SMMT car registrations data clearly shows us the vehicles that are winning the hearts of British consumers, as well as the ones losing their appeal.
The Vauxhall Corsa was the best-seller last year despite a low supply of new vehicles due to the semiconductor shortage and the Covid-19. While these problems are still on the radar, we believe they will ease out gradually this year. While it is unclear how that will affect the top 10 cars on this list, the SMMT data shows that Corsa again topped the best-sellers list.
Let’s check out the UK’s best-selling cars of 2022 according to the sales figures accumulated till March.
The Best-selling Cars of 2022
1 Vauxhall Corsa, 9797 cars sold until March

As revealed earlier, the updated Corsa supermini was the UK’s best-selling car last year, partly owing to its PSA-created platform that accommodates petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. The Corsa held its popularity firmly again this year during three months of sales.
2 Kia Sportage, 8697

The fifth-generation Kia Sportage secured second place on UK best-selling car list due to its sophisticated design, adult-friendly seating, and secure handling.
3 Ford Puma, 8529

The Ford Puma has had a successful 2022 so far, achieving the third spot on this list with 8529 sales. The main highlights of its popularity are its driving dynamics and affordable pricing. Moreover, the addition of the posh Vignale variant and the spirited ST model has supplemented its appeal.
4 Hyundai Tucson, 7889

The Hyundai Tucson throughout remained on the top 10 list in 2021, showing its popularity in the UK. After Hyundai updated its design last year (the most prominent element is the distinct lighting set-up), it continued to climb on the sales charts.
5 Mini 3dr/5dr, 7860

The aging Mini hatchback is still a people's choice in the UK. Last year, it secured an overall third spot, beating superminis like the Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Yaris. Thanks to its availability in petrol, electric, convertible, and performance variants, there is a Mini for every UK driver.
6 Tesla Model Y, 7774

The introduction of the Model Y shook the electric car market in the UK. It came in February and achieved the sixth spot on the best-sellers list with 7774 sales. The electric SUV was actually the best-selling car last month, albeit it is only accessible in pricier Long Range specification, offering 315 miles of drive range.
7 Tesla Model 3, 7773

The Tesla Model 3 is another car from the American electric car automaker that is being well-received here. With 7773 sales by the end of March, it secured second place on the sales chart last month.
8 Nissan Qashqai, 7531

Nissan’s top-selling family SUV in the UK acquired eighth place in overall sales by the end of last month. The new hybrid model will undoubtedly add to its appeal and sales.
9 Vauxhall Mokka, 7395

The new Mokka is the second Vauxhall model on this list thanks to its improved design, which is a significant departure from the old GM-developed Mokka. Stellantis certainly gave it a new life through the new bold styling and powerful engines.
10 Kia Niro, 7194

The Kia Niro sums up this best-selling car's list with 7194 sales until March. Its strong sales are partly due to its availability in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains. Kia promised the new Niro with an updated design and powertrains, which will undoubtedly boost its influence in the UK.
