Driving in hot conditions

If you are planning on heading somewhere hot or living in hope of a glorious British summer, here are our tips for driving in hot conditions and warmer weather.

Hydration

Keep both yourself and your car hydrated. You want to make sure you have lots of refreshments to hand, as well as making sure all the fluids in your car are topped up and ready to go.

Pets

If you have pets with you, do not leave them in the car and make sure they have shade, water and food too.

Preparation

Plan for the weather and make sure you have appropriate clothing, sunglasses, suncream and other essentials for the trip. You don’t want to be caught short and if you are planning a longer trip, having the essentials will make it all the more enjoyable.

Cooling off

You need to start with a cool car but you need to give it time to cool off as well. Give the engine time to rest and consider getting a sun screen to stop the interior from getting hot as well. There is nothing worse than sitting on a hot leather seat or putting your hands on a steering wheel that has been in the sun.
