What is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
With more tech in the world than ever before, connectivity at our fingertips and smart devices all over our homes, it only makes sense that it should extend into our cars as well. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most popular interfaces in modern cars, but what are they and are they worth it? Read on to find out.
While we have reaped the benefits of sat nav and bluetooth for some years now, these integrations offer more connectivity and ease than ever before, to make for a smoother and seamless driving journey.
Apple CarPlay
Apply CarPlay is from Apple, and it marries your phone to your car in the most stylish of ways. With the apps you can use while driving popping up onto the screen (think maps, music and calls), it is easier than ever to stay connected and on the right route, with the help of Apple only a fingertip away. It is also compatible with Siri, meaning voice control is available in the car too, perfection!
Android Auto
This is the Android version of CarPlay, and comes with many of the same features for those of us who haven’t taken a walk over to Apple. It can connect you to Google Maps and Spotify for those similar experiences, and can be used with voice recognition and dictation systems, should the device allow.
The difference
The difference between the two is the software and the manufacture. Both do a great job of keeping us connected and making that drive that bit more enjoyable, with the most used and useful apps right there to use along the way.
Apply CarPlay and Android Auto are available in more modern cars, and you will know by seeing the connectivity on the dash. They are great ways to stay connected and to bring your favourite apps into the car with you on your journey.
